Hazrat Qutbul Madar
A Radiant Sun of Wilayat
Qutbul Madar is such a shining sun in the realm of Wilayat that his spiritual light illuminated the hearts, minds and souls of Muslims across Asia and Europe. The rays of this radiant sun enlightened not only the Indian subcontinent but also the Khanqahs and Madrasas of Europe and Africa.
It is extremely difficult to encompass the traits of a saintly life that spanned five hundred and ninety-six years. This brief account is presented as a humble attempt to include his blessed biography among the records of history.

Name & Titles
Badiuddin Ahmed — Shah Madar, Zinda Shah Madar, Shaikh Madar, Qutbul Madar, Madarul Alameen, Zinda Pir, Zinda Vali, Madar-e-Azam, Sar Giroh-e-Ahle Tabaqat, Pir Zinda Madar
Among the Sufis he is remembered as Zindan-e-Suf and Abdullah.
Birth
He was born on 1st Shawwal 242 A.H. in Halab (Syria) on Monday, the day of Eid. His blessed birth illuminated the house of his father Sayyed Ali Halabi.
Glad Tidings Before Birth
His mother Bibi Fatima Sania saw a radiant sun rising in her courtyard whose light spread far and wide. His father saw Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in a dream giving glad tidings of a noble son named Badiuddin who would become a great saint of his era.
Miracles at Birth
At the moment of birth, voices of 'Allah' were heard from all directions. The newborn immediately went into Sajda and recited the Kalima in eloquent language.
Sacred Genealogy
Father's lineage
From his father's side he traces lineage to Imam Husain (RA) through Imam Zainul Abideen, Imam Baqar and Imam Jafar Sadiq.
Mother's lineage
From his mother's side he traces lineage to Imam Hasan (RA) through Hasan Musna and other noble ancestors.
Early Education
At the age of four years, four months and four days, he began his education. By fourteen, he had mastered Quran, Hadith, jurisprudence and religious sciences. Prophet Khizr adorned him with Ilm-e-Laduni and rare spiritual sciences.
Spiritual Training & Khilafat
He received Khilafat in the Jafaria Husainia Silsila and trained under Sultanul Arefin Bayazid Bustami. Under his guidance he completed stages of mysticism.
Spiritual Presence at Madina
After Hajj, he was spiritually honored in the presence of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ who instructed him to spread Islam in Hindustan and illuminate hearts with the light of Tawheed.
Mission to Hindustan
With firm faith, he set out toward India. He fasted constantly and relied entirely upon divine sustenance.
Journey by Sea
While preaching on a ship to India, a storm destroyed the vessel. By Allah’s will he survived on a plank and reached Gujarat.
Arrival at Khambat (282 A.H.)
He reached Khambat in Gujarat where he began spreading Islam. Prophet Khizr guided him spiritually at that sacred place.
Maqam-e-Samadiyat
He attained Maqam-e-Samadiyat. His face radiated divine نور such that whoever saw him remembered Allah and fell into Sajda. He veiled his face to protect the devotees from the overwhelming spiritual light.
